Transportation Status Report by Citizens

Pune, 2012-13

Introduction and background

The Citizens' Transport Status Report (TSR) for Pune came out of the need felt by many groups working on the issues related to transport in the city that there ought to be a fact-based assessment of transport in the city based on various metrics. These metrics taken largely from the Service Level Benchmarks for Urban Transport published by the Ministry of Urban Development and the city's own Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) help indicate the current status of transport in the city and the annual reports will help to establish trends thus providing public authorities with critical information that will help to better allocate resources, prioritize projects and draft policies.

We eventually hope that the cities themselves will prepare such an annual TSR much as they prepare Environment Status Reports (ESR), which are mandatory.

The Citizen's TSR is a publicly owned initiative.
